A large food distribution facility in Dublin employs 100 full time employees in a call centre which processes customer orders and deals
with customer queries. A further 80 personnel are employed in a warehouse on a three shift cycle covering the full 24 hour period. The
company employs 30 delivery drivers who deliver product to customer premises. As well as food the company also supplies chemicals and
other supplies which are used in restaurants. The facility is located in a busy industrial estate which backs onto a primary school. The
management have become concerned that they don’t currently have a formal safety management system in place.
You are engaged as an advisor by the management of the centre and you are tasked with developing their safety management system. Please
explain how you would implement HSG65 in this company elaborating on what the overall safety management system would look like. (60%)
